Railroads and Farming
Are you ready?
There were high prices so that convinced Texas rangers that they could make large profits by raising more cattle. They needed a way to get there cattle to the nearest railroad lines mostly to sell the cattle or get cattle products. Also some of the beef that came from the cattle was priced very high. A lot of people liked the beef and started buying it. The beef started getting popular and Texas Rangers made large profits so they could get more money.
There were some brothers that found some oil while they were digging and found a huge discovery and became very well known. When that discovery was made a huge effect on oil prices went up and was very expensive. There changes in price were part of a boom and bust cycle, or alternating periods of growth and depression. Woman and children often didn’t live there because it was very dangerous to live on a oil field. Men usually lived there because it was well paid if worked on the oil field.
Most towns helped pay for railroads for transportation so they could get places faster. For every continuous mile a track is completed and a company could receive 16 square miles of land. It also helped out because the more they built the more money it would cost for people to get on so they could get places. Also some of the money came/went to the government. It also was better transportation for food and crops because it would come a lot fast then previous transportations.
