Along with no president, there were other flaws. Different currencies had no value outside of their original state. They also couldn't export to other states or settle disputes.

Edmund Randolph introduced the Virginia Plan. William Patterson introduced the New Jersey Plan. Roger Sherman introduced the Great Compromise.
New Jersey Plan!
John Locke proposed the idea of a government split into 3 branches. The romans had the idea of a republic government. The romans also gave the idea not to do a dictatorship.
Slaves should count for populatiom!
No they should not!
There were originally two plans for the government. They were called the Virginia Plan and the New Jersey Plan. They were combined in the Great Compromise.
The Virginia plan wanted 3 branches of government with 2 houses in the legislature. The New Jersey Plan also wanted 3 branches, but instead wanted 1 legislative house with one vote per state. A compromise was then proposed. It called for a 2 house legislature where people were voted into the House of Representatives. The state legislatures then chose members of the more powerful house, the Senate.
How about a compromise?
The southern states had less civilians than the North, but they had more slaves. This caused them to want to have slaves count in population to give them more representation. The Northern states opposed this. A compromise was then opposed, which is now known as the 3/5 compromise. For every 5 slaves, only 3 would count for population.
