  • Organized Crime
  • Flapper dresses were fashionable in the 20's.  Men started to dress less formal around this time as well.  Many men were seen without their coats, or wearing just suspenders with a shirt and a tie.
  • Music
  • During prohibition, the sale and consumption of alcohol was illegal.  This meant that speakeasies were created as secret bars.  Many rich people were unaffected by the price gauge for alcohol.
  • F. Scott Fitzgerald
  • The roaring 20's gave way to the birth of organized crime.  The Italian Mafia made its rise during this time.  Also, local mobs began to form and try and control areas in their towns and cities.
  • Lifestyle
  • During the Jazz Age, jazz began its rise into American Culture and the American Lifestyle.  Louis Armstrong began his rise during this time.  Jazz became a very influential genre of music.
  • F. Scott Fitzgerald was an American author.  He is most famous for writing The Great Gatsby.  However, this work of his was never very popular while he was alive, and many people read it after his death.

  • During the Jazz Age, baseball was the sport everyone talked about.  George "Babe" Ruth was the most famous ballplayer in the nation.  Everyone was talking about him and his famous "called shot".
