  • Nicolaus Copernicus was born in Torun, Poland in 1473. He developed his own model of the heliocentric planetary system in which he believed to be correct and later shared his findings around the year 1514. He is now known for sharing his thoughts of the heliocentric theory and though it was proved to be incorrect later , it became a very popular and common belief by not only the people, but also the Catholic church.(biography.com/scientist)
  • Francis Bacon-
  • See you all on tomorrows episode of "Bacon-y Shower Thoughts- Scientific method"
  • Galileo Galilei was born in Pisa, Italy in 1564. Galileo is well know for his correct Geocentric theory and the way his work shaped our modern views of science. Because of his theories and logic, he was given 9 years of house arrest by the Catholic church for going against their teachings and eventually died whilst still under house arrest.(biography.com/scientist)
  • Church vs. Scientific Revolution-
  • StAhP!!! Ur going against GOD
  • No u
  • Sir Isaac Newton was born in England in 1643. He is well known for his discoveries of how gravity works and the laws of motion which have not changed much besides new things being added. He is also known for his theories on calculus, light, and celestial mechanics. (history.com)
  • Impact on Modern Day Science-
  • ...Things fall down because they...are clumsy.
  • Your wrong George! Things fall down because of gravity..Newton says so!
  • Francis Bacon was born in England in 1561. He is well known for his incredible intellect of the written word, his early legal/political career and also his study and creation of the scientiffic method which we still use today in our modern science. (Brittanica.com and biography.com)
  • The church was not fond of the scientist who went against their teachings and knowledge and viewed those who did as unholy or against the Catholic religion because the church believed their knowledge to be the exact knowledge and words of God. Theories form scientists such as Galileo etc. later disproved the church's teachings though they were not against the religion as many scientists grew up Catholic.

  • Many past theories have either been proven wrong or correct. For example; Copernicus's geocentric theory was disproved by Galileo and proven to be right over time and is now known to us. Newton's laws of motion and discoveries of how gravity works were helpful while shaping our common facts and beliefs, therefore shaping our modern scientific understandings.
  • She's right George it's in our textbooks!
