Storyboard Text

  •         It was the morning they planned to escape, and everyone went about their days as they usually would. As they were eating 6 constables walked in and summoned Douglass and the other slaves who were planning to escape. They started to grab the slaves hands aggressively trying to tie their hand behind their backs. Douglass thought someone must have told Mr.Hamilton about there plan. While the others were being viciously tied douglass managed to throw his protection in the fire so there was no proof he was planning to escape. All the slaves that were going to escape including Douglass were now tied and in a car going to prison. The others still had there protections which was information hinting to the fact they might have wanted to escape Douglass told them to “Own nothing” the slaves kept passing the word down “Own nothing” “Own nothing.” Douglass told the slaves who still had there protections to eat them with their biscuits.
  •         Douglass gets imprisoned by the constables and loses all hope. He is filled with sorrow and covered in gloom. Douglass is now convinced he will never be free, and he will be a slave all his life. Douglass was filled with hope just 1 day ago and now he is hopeless. Douglass remembers the promise he made to his mother and now feels like he let her down.
  •         At least Douglass thought he would never get to the north. Just when douglass was starting to get used to being imprisoned, Mr. Auld showed up at the prison. Mr. Auld was Douglass’s previous slave master . He had come to take Douglass out of prison, Douglass was shocked, he didn't know what to think of it, his old slave master had just come to take him out of jail. Mr. Auld told Douglass that he was sending him to live with his brother, Hugh. Hugh lived in Baltimore and was going to teach Douglass trade. Douglass had no idea what to think about it he was going to the north. He was going to be a free man, and he could join the abolition movement.
