"Cyclops, if ever mortal man inquire how you were put to shame and blinded, tell him Odysseus, raider of cities, took your eye." (9.416-419)
Odysseus and his men came apon an island. Odysseus wanted to see if there were any people on the island that could help supply stuff for him and his crew.
The people that went to explore the island got trapped in a cave with an evil cyclops. Odysseus came up with a plan to stab the cyclops in the eye so that he would open the cave and not be able to see, so that they could escape.
Once they escaped, they got onto their boat and started to sail away. Odysseus got arrogant and made fun of the cyclops from the boat, and the cyclops started throwing boulders at the ship. One boulder almost hit the ship and created a wave so large that it pushed the ship away from the shore.
