Odysseus starts out with his twelve men, and liquor, and ends up finding a cyclop's. They cyclop's get angry and traps Odysseus in a cave. Meanwhile he is trying to get out, but also survive. That's where his mind of trickery comes into place.
Odysseus told the Cyclop that his name was Nohbody, and soon after, Odysseus stabbed him in the eye with a pole. When the Cyclop tried to explain himself for yelling, and screamimg in pain, he said Noybody tricked, me so then the other cyclops didn't think anything was wrong, so they walked away.
After Odysseus stabbed him in the eye, he went and tied himself under a sheep, or ram, and escaped. The cyclops had a hard time seeing, and wasn't able to notice that Odysseus escaped. After he finally escaped, he went onto his ship, and fled.
