  • The fashion of the 1920's/Jazz Age for women was completely different than any before.  This time period brought new freedoms for women and thus made their attire become more free and exotic.  Women began wearing short dresses and showing skin which was frowned upon in time passed.  Men's fashion was a classy style of suits and tuxedos.

  • Prohibition took away freedom of buying, selling, or consuming alcohol illegal.   However it did not stop it from happening behind closed doors,  people had secret bars where they ran illegal operations to sell and drink alcohols.  This establishments were called speakeasies and gave people access to illegal alcohol sales for those who were opposed to prohibition.

  • Organized crime ran wild in the Jazz Age.  With prohibition among the people of America, and many not in support of the law, someone had to supply the illegal alcohol.  People who participated in organized crime supplied the speakeasies with illegal alcohol during the prohibition time period.  Organized crime led to families with large amounts of wealth for much time to come.
  • Lifestyle
  • In the 1920's jazz became very popular within speakeasies and other night clubs where illegal sale of alcohol took place.  The new genre of music began spreading from its origin place of New Orleans to major northern cities.  Part of the success of jazz was the appeal to the youth.  Jazz helped with cultural migration between blacks and whites and eventually led to more opportunities for recording and streaming in music.
  • F. Scott Fitzgerald was a primary advocate of the Jazz Age lifestyle.  People felt he understood what their generation had in that time period.  He married in 1920 and lived a fast paced life.  His life was full of alcohol, parties, and writing in the twenties.  He is still considered one of the greatest American writers.
  • The lifestyle of many during this time period of the Jazz Age was a new type that people had never seen before.  Their were parties everywhere and plentiful amounts of wealth to go around.  People began playing jazz music and new dances came about, it was a time of new culture being birthed.  Culture began to shift majorly during this time period.
