  • Fear and Suspicion are Destructive Forces
  • My theme for the story or film called, "The Monsters Due on Maple Street" is fear and suspicion are destructive forces. First of all, one of the characters named Charlie, killed a person approaching the street. This happened because he was very scared and that caused him to kill someone. This shows that fear can be a destructive force. Secondly, everyone on Maple Street accused Steve of being an alien. They all ignored how many years they befriended him and what their relationships were from fear and suspicion. They all backed away from him when he walked towards them, showing fear. One lady in the crowd told everyone that he stared up into the sky at night as if he were looking for something. Finally, they all accused Tommy, a child, of being the alien. They just thought that a child could be an alien in fear of being accused, and they were suspicious that he was the alien because he told everyone about aliens coming there. The people of Maple Street blamed it on a kid, feared to not be trusted by their neighbors. Fear and suspicion are destructive forces is my theme for this story.
