Storyboard Text

  • In the book "How to Steal a Dog" by Barbra O'Connor, the main character, Georgina, is living a hard life. Mostly it's because of her brother, but really, it's about their lives. She lives in a car with her mother and her brother. Eventually they all got tired with living of a stinking car and wanted money to get a real house.
  • I the middle of the book,  Georgina is facing a big wave of self con-souses, she is pressured by having her friends see that she lives in a car. According to the text she is worried and self con-souses that her all of the kids and her friends saw the car: " I just wish mama hadn't parked so close to the school. What if someone I knew saw me sitting there? "( pg. 27 ) this shows how she is self con-souses that her friends are going to see her in their so called "house".
  • so when she in the car, she wrote in her notebook, how to steal a dog, and she was going to steal a dog, but she needed help from Toby, and she hoped that Toby would not tell there mom. she had a lot of determination that she could steal a dog and get the $500 that they needed for there apartment. In the text, it says that she stole Willy with her brother Toby and took him to there so called "house" " So I quickly as I could, I lifted the latch on the gate and opened it just enough to reach my arm in. My heart was pounding so hard I could hear was the thump, thump, thump in my ears. I knew I had to keep myself moving or else I was liable to start thinking I shouldn't be doing this " ( pg. 71 ) This shows us about how she is determent to steal a dog.
  • Another trait that would work for Georgina would be greedy because she wants money for a house, it is her main goal, to get money so she can buy a house/apartment for her mom and brother but the main reason she is greedy is because she had her friend see her next to Toby siting on the milk crate out side of their car. According to the text on page 72, its showing in er own words about money and rewards: " I flapped my hand at Toby. " Trust me. That lady is gonna want him back more than anything. She's probably making a reward sign right now " this shows her work in greed and how she thinks more for herself and her family.
  • The last trait for Georgina would be responsible because she told the truth to Carmella, which is a responsible thing to do after stealing Willy from Carmella, this also happens later in the middle of the book when she apologizes to a secondary character named Mokiee. in the text it shows how she apologizes for stealing Willy to get money for her family: " I looked down at the dirty linoleum floor. Willy had left little muddy paw prints in front of the stove where Carmella's was standing " I stole Willy " I said to the floor " this shows her being responsible for her actions.
  • At the end of the book, Georgina, Toby and their mother finally lived in a house, yes, not an apartment but a nice clean house, they had a happy life and Georgina came with a conclusion to her " How to Steal a Dog " book notes and said: " Step 9: Those are all the rules for how to steal a dog. BUT DO NOT STEAL A DOG because it is NOT a good idea THE END " so Carmella and Willy came to a happy conclusion, and Georgina, Toby and their mom came to a happy ending as well.
