Storyboard Text

  • Hello class! Today I will be showing you about the various parts of an atom.
  • Atoms are made of tiny subatomic particles called protons, neutrons, and electrons.
  • Protons have a positive electrical charge and are found in the Nucleus.
  • Protons have a heavy mass and it determines the identity of the atom.
  • Neutrons have no electrical charge and are found in the Nucleus.
  • Neutrons also have a heavy mass and it holds the nucleus together.
  • Electrons have a negative charge and are found in shells or orbitals.
  • Electron's mass is virtually zero and it's responsible for reactivity
  • Well class, I hope you learned something about atoms. Goodbye!
  • Atoms are organized by their atomic number on the periodic table, which is really their number of protons or electrons.
  • The atomic mass and the elements's symbol can also be found here.
