It was another day at Lancaster Middle School. In other words, it meant getting shoved in the jam-packed halls and choking down the worst cafeteria lunch in the history of cafeteria lunches. Your typical middle school.
By the way, I'm Audrey. Audrey Steinman. The girl in the blue tank next to me is Claire Braun, my best friend. We've been besties ever since we were five, and still are. It's been a really long time- now we're in 7th grade!
Claire can act immature sometimes, though. For example, she wanted to play with my old teddy bear, Stuffy, at our weekend sleepover (a tradition since we became best friends) a few weeks ago. It sounds ridiculous, and it was. Still, I gave in. But her immaturity seems to get worse nowadays.
We were in the hall waiting to go into homeroom, and Claire was chatting about her crazy idea to do a rhyme to modernly recreate our reading teacher's favorite play, Romeo and Juliet. I tuned her out and admiringly stared at Bella and her entourage instead as I bit my lip.
Bella and her friends were the coolest group in 7th grade. I wanted to be in it with Claire, but with her silliness and dislike for them, I didn't think it was going to happen anytime soon.
Ehmagawd, you wouldn't believe it!
Everything became worse. At last Friday's sleepover, Claire kept on blabbering about her weird ideas. I just about had it. I started yelling at her, and soon Claire was in tears. Things went downhill from there. But my anger got the best of me, and eventually hers did, too. She stormed out, quitting our partnership. I defiantly agreed-I was too angry and annoyed to care.
Ugh! Can't you grow up?!
Though I didn't have a partner, it didn't stop me from success. I made a music video that narrated the story of Romeo and Juliet. I have to say, it was fabulous, except the part where Claire ignored me all day. I thought she would've understood, but hey-her loss! Anyway, I got an A plus! Also, Bella liked it so much she invited ME (of all people, I know) to sit with her at lunch-basically a chance to join her group! Squeal!!!
This is beautiful!
EHMAGAWD! Sooo Cute!!!!
Sitting with Bella wasn't as great as it seemed. As we sat down, she looked closely at the loud stream of people, as if she was trying to find someone. Her face lit up as she found who she seemed to be looking for, and her lips curled up into a smirk.
"The funniest thing happened today, you know," Bella started. "In reading, that silly little Claire girl had the most ridiculous rhyme thing. It was so weird and awkward that nobody even clapped!" Her friends erupted in laughter while I stayed still, too shocked to speak.
