- In chapter one, Buck was kidnapped by Manuel and sold to a stranger, who took him out of his home of Santa Clara.
- In chapter two, Buck was experiencing his first day as a sled dog but that did not go to well, he was having a dream about what had happened to curly and that traumatized him from sleeping.
- In Chapter three, Buck and Spitz got into a really bad fight because Spitz laid in Bucks nest causing Buck to kill Spitz.
- In chapter four,Francois tries to make Sol-leeks, lead dog, but Buck makes it clear he wants to be the leader, Sol-leek though quick and decided the only right ting to do is o whip them.
- In chapter five, Buck and is team get sold again by Hal, Charles, and Mercedes, but John Thornton saves Buck.
- In chapter six, Buck attacks Black Burton because he got in a fight with John Thornton.
