It was in the middle of July 1942 when Anne Frank and her family were walking down a street in the Netherlands. Jewish people were being attacked because Hitler and the Nazis had convinced all the citizens that they were dangerous. The Frank family were Jewish and needed a safe place to stay without leaving the country, so they walked to the Annex, a small building outside Mr. Otto Frank's job.
Several Jewish people lived in this tiny place with the Franks. Employees of Otto brought supplies needed for the people staying in the Annex. Troubled times were going on outside of the four walls.
I wonder how long we will be here for!
I have to hide because I'm Jewish!
No problem. Good luck.
Thank you for all of this!
Anne did not have much privacy, so she confided in her diary. Through it, she realizes she wants to be a famous writer, and be recognized for writing about her life during the Holocaust.
Haha! What do you have written in there?
None of your buisness!
Very unfortunately, someone still unknown told the police that the Frank family and others were staying in the Annex. The police forced the Jewish people out, and brought them all to terrible to concentration camps. While searching the Annex for any material left, a women, Miep Gies, one of Otto's employees found Anne's prized diary.
Sadly, Otto was the only member of his family who survived the Holocaust. Miep returned Anne's diary to Otto. Like in Anne's dreams, her diary and story was published, and millions of people read it. It is still read today. Anne Frank's diary gave many Jewish people a voice in their society.
