The major political leaders of the American Civil War were Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis. They were the presidents of the USA and the CSA respectively. Davis had previously served in office, Lincoln had not., however, Lincoln was ready to serve his country and paid for it with his life.
The two masterminds behind the fighting of the war were Ulysses S Grant and Tobert E. Lee. Grant was the Commander of all Union troops and was an incredible leader of men. Without Grant, it is entirely possible that the North could have lost thr war.
The tactics on the large scale of the American Civil War were rather simple. The North was on the attack with the Anaconda plan and the douth was on the defensive wanting not to attack but to keep what they had.
One of the biggest advantages of the Union over the Confederacy was the extensive industrialization. The many factories gave The north great ease with creating war materials and keeping up the war effort.
One economic advantage of the North was the extensive railroad system. With it, they were able to rapidly move man and supplies to or from a point of conflict. The south had a railroad system but this system was easily disrupted by Union soldiers.
The last of the main advantages the Noth had over the South was the massive population. With 22 Million citizens, the North could keep fighting a war much longer than the South could with approximately 10 Million people, about a third of which were enslaved. Contrary to common belief however, many blacks did fight for the Confederacy sometimes facing even worse racism in the North than in the South.
