The story begins as the children of the town collect rocks and place them into a pile. The adults all form a circle in the city square all anticipating the lottery to come. Conversations begin to stir up, growing in size as the time came closer.
Sorry I'm Late! I nearly forgot!
Before the Lottery began Mrs. Hutchinson came a running down the street nervously.
The Lottery began and last names were called. Each head of the house reached into a black box and grabbed a slip of paper.
Summers, Hutchinson, Delacroix, ...
After everyone's name was called, Mr. Hutchinson opened his slip and revealed his paper. It revealed a black dot in the center. Mrs. Hutchinson yelled in retaliation.
Everyone around ignored her and went into the final stage of the lottery. Each of the Hutchinson family member reached into the box and pulled out a slip of paper. This time Mrs. Hutchinson possessed the black dot.
The lottery has entered its final stage. Everyone gathered around Mrs. Hutchinson as she yelled. They all reached down to the pile of rocks previously created by the children and threw it at Mrs. Hutchinson, stoning her to death.
