Washington and his forces build the fort in an area with many hills and mountains. This would give Washington the advantage of having the higher ground over the enemy.
The Battle of Fort Necessity took place on July 3rd, 1754. Washington's forces were overrun an were forced to retreat. This was truly Washington's biggest defeat.
Though Fort Necessity was in a strategic area, the French took advantage of the hills and easily cleared out the remaining American colonists. Washington was forced to retreat with the rest of his forces. +Why did Washington fail?- The fort was not build on the highest ground possible.
