In this kingdom, the king has decided that trials are fairly resolved via a choosing of doors by the accused. One door hides a wonderful new spouse, and the other hides a bloodthirsty tiger. This king has a daughter who has a secret lover.
The king catches the princess with her lover, and the man is jailed and eventually sent to trial. The princess uses her connections to figure out which door will have the tiger and which will have the new wife. She decides that she does not want him to be happy with a woman other than her and indicates to him that he should choose the door with the tiger.
He has been dating this woman and is not completely dumb, so after seeing how quickly she had gestured to the door on the right, he immediately picks the other door.
Central Idea/ Theme
The door opens and he sees a woman as he expected. The princess is a mess and wishes he was dead. The crowd cheers as they watch a wedding celebration.
The new couple are wed and live out their married lives. The king is content because he believes that his system has worked, and the princess remains angry for a long while.
The deepest thoughts and instincts of others are things that we should always be aware and wary of.
