Arrival at Roanoke
Colony from August to October
After John White Leaves...
John White and 117 colonists set sail from Portsmouth, England to establish a new colony. One of the colonists were White's daughter, who married Ananias Dare. The colony was near Chesapeake Bay.
Colonists farm and hunt for food, and sleep in forts. Everybody is content with the colony. 2 years passes and Sir Richard Grenville comes to get supplies. Grenville arrived on Roanoke with supplies and new colonists.
The colonists leave the colony for Croatoan and join the local tribe. John White arrives later and finds the colony deserted, with the words "Croatoan" and "Cro" carved on a nearby tree. There was no cross so we can assume the colony is safe. Croatoan is on John White's maps, so we know it exists.
