Storyboard Text

  • Tragic Hero
  • Hamartia
  • Hubris
  • Willy Loman is the Tragic Hero because he is stuck in a delusion
  • Peripeteia
  • Willy goes through his life blind, never realizing the real truth about himself. He is a failure chasing the "American Dream"
  • Anagnorisis
  • Dad?! What are you doing? Who is that!
  • Willy shows excessive pride by not accepting the job offer from Charlie even though he just got fired from his job and desperately needed money for bills
  • Catharsis
  • When Biff breaks down and cries to his dad, Willy, about letting him get lost for years. This is the point In time where Willy believes that killing himself will benefit his family more than him sticking around.
  • Willy does not have a moment of anagnorisis because all throughout the play he lives in denial. He does not see how him cheating on his wife hurt Biff, and single handedly ruined his life.
  • At the end of the play Willy has made up his mind to kill himself.
