  • Hi I'm Stephen F. Austin and this is my dad Moses F. Austin. He died of pneumonia. He asks me to finish his dream of colonizing Texas to make money. I traveled to San Antonio to meet with the Spanish governor. The governor thought it was a good idea and let me choose where I wanted to colonize. I chose right in between the Brazos's river and the Colorado river because it has two water sources and rich soil.
  • I would give settlers 640 acres and 320 if they brought a wife and 160 for every kid they bring and 80 acres for every enslaved person they bring to Texas. This settlement is called Austin's colony/The old 300. The capital is San Felipe de Austin. This settlement was the most successful settlement in Texas. All of the colonist were required to speak Spanish and convert to Catholicism. This is what the settlement looked like.
