Storyboard Text

  • Moody returns home from work to find that his wife, Betty, left the house with their daughter, Mahtob. He blames his family for allowing the two of them to leave together.
  • How could you let this happen? How could you not see this coming?
  • We're sorry... We didn't know.
  • Moody decides to contact authorities to help him with the situation. He tells them that his wife took their daughter away from him and is trying to leave the country without his written consent. He knows that her leaving with Mahtob violates the laws of Iran.
  • Moody confronts the Iranian Police to further explain the situation. They decide that they should speak with Ellen, the American woman that Betty befriended, as she might carry more information about the plan to escape.
  • My wife is trying to escape the country with my daughter!
  • What's wrong, sir?
  • They find Ellen in the class that she used to attend with Betty and they threaten her in order to obtain any answers. She ends up telling them whatever she knew about the plan, including Houssein, the man who helped her escape. They then search for Houssein, as well as his sister.
  • I'm sorry! I will tell you everything I know!
  • What do you know about Betty's escape? Tell us everything or there will be consequences!
  • Soon after, they track down Houssein and his sister, both receiving punishments after being forced to tell them everything. Houssein responds saying that Betty and Mahtob should be beyond the border of Iran, and safe from Moody.
  • Tell us what you know!
  • You have nothing to worry about... By now Betty and Mahtob should be outside Iran and safe from you!
  • Realizing he may never see his daughter again, Moody returns home. He knows that Betty would have him arrested if he tried to go to the United States, and he would not be allowed anywhere near Mahtob. Saddened by his thoughts, he tries to think of other ways to see and hear about his daughter.
