  • James Madison is the president of the United States. In 1812, he has asked Congress to declare a war with Britain because of impressment and attacks on U.S ships.
  • Impressment
  • Tecumseh, a Native American Chief, organized Native Americans to fight the Americans. The Navie Americans allied with the British.
  • Native American resistence
  • The war was fought mostly by Navy. Commodore Perry was in charge of Lake Eerie. Commodore Perry's ship sunk but rowed to a boat and defeated the British. The British went to Canada, General Harrison followed them and defeated the British at the Battle of Thames.
  • Phase 1- Navy Ships
  • After the British defeated the French, they put full force on the Americans. The British blockaded the coast of America an went to Washington D.C and burned the White House. Francis Scott Key saw the fight and wrote the Star Spangled Banner.
  • Phase 2- Washington D.C
  • The British attacked New Orleans and cut off the Americans with the Mississippi. Andrew Jackson commanded the American forces and defeated the British.
  • Phase 3- New Orleans
  • The manufacturing grew n the U.S. This is when the Industrial Revolution started. After the War of 1812.
