First Grade: Frenchy SiJohn teases Sherman so much he punches him and is sent to the principal office
Fourth Grade: Mr.Schluter tells Sherman he should be a doctor to help heal the tribe. Meanwhile, his father drinks a gallon of vodka daily while his mother starts quilts that always end unfinished in dark places of their HUD House.
Seventh Grade: Sherman kisses a white girl and feels as if he is saying goodbye to his tribe and the people who respect him. Afterward, they stop talking to him.
Tenth Grade: Wally Jim kills himself by crashing into a pine tree. Nobody answers the police officers who question them, but Sherman and the rest of his tribe know that the problems they are facing are the biggest components.
Twelth Grade: Graduating as the valedictorian of his small farm town high school, Sherman looks toward the future as the rest of his classmates express different emotions and future's.
