Odysseus and his men were very hungry because they had been sailing for so long and had so little food. So, they saw an island and wanted to see if there was food on this island.
Odysseus and his men landed at the island and saw all of the food that the island had to offer. They stayed and took as much food as they could. But something unexpected was about to come from around the corner. This would be Odysseus's first mistake of this adventure on this island.
Odysseus and his men enter a cave where they see all of the food. They think that no one is around but as soon as they turn around, they will encounter a creature of mass destruction. They see a cyclops. This cyclops had returned back to its cave to see people eating his food trying to steal from him.The cyclops then eats two of the men.
NOM NOM NOM NOM
Odysseus realizes that he and his men can't move the boulder blocking the cave. Then, once sunrise approached, the Cyclops ate two more men, so Odysseus realized that the only way to get off of this island would be to come up with a plan. He decided to offer the cyclops some wine. The cyclops drinks the wine and then falls to the ground and Odysseus tabs him in the eye, making him not being able to see. Once the Cyclops wakes up, Odysseus tells the cyclops his name is nobody. This is part of the plan.
What's wrong? Are you okay?
Odysseus's plan worked, now he and his remaining men just have to get out of the cave alive. He looked at the sheep that were in the cave, and a light bulb lit up in his head.
Nobody is hurting me!
Odysseus's idea worked. His idea was to tie then men beneath the sheep because he knew that the Cyclops couldn't feel the men on top of the sheep. Once they were out of the cave, Odysseus revealed his real name to the cyclops, not realizing that the Cyclops was the son of Poseidon. This was the worst descision Odysseus had made so far. Poseiden would make him pay.
