conflict: rainsford and zaroff are both hunting for different reasons. for survival, and for fun.
rising actions: when rainsford meets zaroff, zaroff is trying to hunt him because he is tired of hunting animals. they make a game where rainsford needs to hide and if zaroff finds him, he gets to kill rainsford. and if he doesn't find him, zaroff gets eaten by the dogs. rainsford is now released into the forest.
climax: zaroff was about to find rainsford right after he killed ivan. rainsford jumped off the cliff and swam back to the house and was never found.
falling action: zaroff went back and found rainsford in his bedroom. zaroff was shocked to see him there.
resolution: as zaroff got his punishment, rainsford "never slept in a more comfortable bed"
