Olaudah Equiano first arrives at the slave ship and is astonished by the conditions on the ship. He sees how poorly the people are treated and begins to feel frightened.
Olaudah Equiano has now boarded the slave ship and was being handled by the nasty crew. He thinks he is going to be killed on the slave ship after hearing and seeing how the crew members treat the slaves.
I'm so sorry!
Equiano, once he was on the ship, was put down under the decks, and describes the foul stench of one he had never experienced in his life before. When the slaves were permitted to be on the deck, Equiano said that he had seen a slave being flogged and beaten death by one of the crew members. After the beating, he was thrown off the side of the ship.
One day the crew had gotten themselves some fish to eat as a meal. They ate enough to fill themselves, and instead of giving the left over fish to the starving slaves, the nasty crew threw the fish back into the sea. This shows the cruelty of the crew.
The slave ship has now stopped at it's destination, and all of the slaves are now being sold. At the slave auction, Olaudah realizes how cruel slavery is. He sees how devastated people are that they have been separated from their families and will probably never see them again.
