  • Today, I will be telling you, why the Aztecs choose to build their capital city where it was, and how they built it there.
  • The legend says, Once the Aztecs saw a eagle standing on a catus eating snake in the middle of a lake. That's where they built their capital city.
  • The Aztecs made floating land called, chinampas, they were used for growing crops and were connected together to create, Tenochtitlan. They made them by pounding stacks into the lake then putting them together with weeds, then poured in mud and rocks.
  • They expanded their island to a cast of 2,500 arces! Wow and they only used their hands and feet.
  • When the spanish came and say the city in the middle land to see a big city in the middle of a lake
  • This is whta the Aztec(Mexican) flag looks like. Can you see anything similar to what I was telling you about, on it? Yes, the eagle standing on a cactus in the middle of a lake, is on the mexican flag.
