The scene I chose for this storyboard was when Ishmael and his friends encountered Gasemu and he told them that their parents were in the next village worried about where they were. Little did they know that minutes later that village would get bombarded by rebels. They had hope that some relatives were still alive, but all that hope came crashing down when they heard a few rebels mention that nobody escaped. During their mourning session, they all got mad at each other and just yelled at each other reasons of why this could have been prevented and they could see their parents one last time. The theme of this scene is: in a tough situation, always lower your expectations because otherwise, you’ll be disappointed.
As Ishmael, Kanei, Jumah, Moriba, Musa, and Alhaji continued on without Saidu, they encountered a man cutting down hands of ripe bananas
The man recognized them and told them their families were in a nearby village and asked if they wanted to help him carry bananes the that village
They will indeed be surprised to see you... the village is just over that hill
As they were going to get up from their rest, they heard gunshots, explosions, people screaming & wailing from the village
As they made their way to the village, they all saw that it was burning up before their eyes and realized the chances of someone surviving was slight
None of this is anyone's fault.
I especially enjoyed burning this village. We caught everyone here. No one escaped. That's how good it was. We carried out the command and executed everyone.
