  • Thomas Hobbes was a philosepher,scientist and historian. Best known for his political philosophy. He is best known for his 1651 book Leviathan, in which he explains an influential formulationof social contract theory.

  • John Locke expressed his views that Government is obligated to serve the people, by protecting life,liberty and property. He favored representives government and a rule of Law.
  • Voltaire
  • Montesquieu established ideas of seperation of powers. He inspired Decleration Of Rights Of Man and believed in seperating powrs of government into 3 levels, legislative,executive and judicial.

  • Rousseau believed human nature was basically good but society corrupted people. He wrote books and opreas.
  • Nature never deceives us; it is we who deceive ourselves.
  • Voltaire was perhaps the most famous philosopher known for his wit , essays , plays and novels. He sharply attacked political institutions.

  • Diderot went to college to study. He was incarcerated and came out a new man. He was best known for his works with the Encyclopedia. He wanted to make the knowledge of all arts and science available to the public.
