James Mercer Langston Hughes was born on February 1st,1902,In Joplin mo.As a baby Langston's parents separated his father went to mexico and his mother went to Lincon.
Langston grew up with his grandma in a small cabin when his parents left him.After a while Langston's grandma passed away.Because of this,Langston had to live with his mother,and at some point he visited his father

When Langston was 13,he started writing poems.His poems were mostly for his school magazines at Central Highschool.After graduating he visited his father in mexico,but due to an accident he left.

In 1925 Langston went to Lincoln University in Oxford,Pa.He had job's such as,a seaman,salt mine,and more.Langston also published his first poem "weary Blues" in 1926
As Langston grew older,He made more and more poems that later became a hit.As Langston made,"Mother to son","drums",and "when sue wears red".
James Mercer Langston Hughes,died,at the age of 65 in New York City,On may 22,1967,due to cancer.
