Ella loved going to the beach, playing in the waves, and chasing the crabs. It was the one place she could relax and run wild. She always went with her mom and her brother, but dreamed of one day going all by herself.
Ella loved teaching her little brother, Jason, the ways of the coast. She showed him how to make the sandiest sand castle on the whole beach, how to swim in the ocean, and how to protect his snacks from seagulls.
One night, Ella decided to venture back to the beach while her mom and brother were asleep. She knew she was supposed to be sleeping but the waves sounded so inviting. So she snuck out of bed to run along the sand and play in the water, but after a few hours the soothing sound of the ocean lulled her in to a deep sleep.
Ella opened her eyes the morning sunrise, much to her surprise the glowing sky was moving!. Looking down Ella saw lobsters and crabs carrying her towards the waves! Together they marched towards the water with a very distressed and confused Ella on top.
Fighting to get away from the sea creatures, she feels a hand pulling her away from them. Looking up Ella is greeted with her brother's determined face to save his sister. The lobsters drop Ella and scurry back in to the ocean, to wait for another victim. Ella realizes that although some things may seem tempting it's better to be safe then sorry.
As she closed the book, realizing that even good, moral people can make a fatal flaw that would impact their lives, we could all learn from our mistakes and from others.
