Teddy awoke from his warm ball of fuzz and heard a powerful rumble coming from outside.
“Could it be thunder?” he thought without peeking outside. “Of course not. It’s far too sunny out for that kind of weather. It sounded like the garage door. Paul must be home from school already.”
When Paul would come home, he would always call out, “Teddy, oh, Teddy, where are you?” After hearing this, Teddy would always run to the gate to greet him. But this time, Teddy did not hear Paul call for him. “Where could he be?” Teddy thought. “I ought to search for him.”
Teddy backed up to the very edge of the room. As he sprinted towards the gate, he launched himself into the air and soared over the top of it.
After landing on his feet, Teddy trotted up the stairs and entered the kitchen where he could still smell his breakfast from earlier that morning. However, he could not detect Paul’s scent.
