  • In 1802 the Spanish Canceled American trade through New Orleans. They had planned to give the Louisiana land over to the French. Napoleon the French leader said " Send troops to Santo Domingo." How every they were unsuccessful.
  • "Well the land is no use to us without Santo Domingo." said Napoleon. Robert Livingston and James Monroe heard the news and went straight to Jefferson. "Jefferson, the French put the Louisiana territory up for sale." they said.
  • "Why do they not want the land anymore?" questioned Jefferson. "They don't see any need for it anymore because they didn't get Santo Domingo." said James Monroe.
  • "Well that's great lets try and get it." said Jefferson. "Will you give us the land for 15 million?" asked Jefferson. " You have a deal." said Napoleon.
  • "Lewis and Clark will you go explore the Louisiana Territory?" Jefferson asked. "Yes we will." they replied. And off they went.
