  • Coyotito got stung by a scorpion and Kino is frustrated while Juana is worried about Coyotito. A small child can easily die from a scorpion sting. They go to the doctor but he will not treat Coyotito because they don't have a lot of money.
  • Falling Action: fearful, brave
  • When Kino was diving for oysters he found a large oyster in the water. When Kino saw the pearl in the oyster he named the pearl, The Pearl of the World. When he got home he listed everything he would do with the pearl.
  • Resolution: devastating, tragic
  • Juana takes the pearl and runs to the edge of the water and tried to throw it back into the water. Kino takes the pearl and punches Juana. When he is going back to his house a mysterious figure jumps out and attacks him but Kino kills the person. 
  • Kino and his family have to run away because Kino killed a man. They see the trackers so Kino decides to run to the mountains. He notices that one of the trackers has a gun so he makes a plan. His plan is to kill the man with the gun and take the gun and kill the other two men.
  • Kino starts his plan, he kills the first man with a knife. The next two are killed with the gun. Kin became a killing machine. He accidentally shot Coyotito and heard the cry of death.
