Storyboard Text

  • Atlanta, Georgia. 1906.
  • Tension between African Americans and Whites were higher than ever. Whites were afraid of the successful African Americans. They were also afraid of African Americans taking all job opportunities.
  • You are all savages!
  • We just want our rights!
  • On the morning of the riot, a series of articles detailed inaccurate news about African American men assaulting white women. Outraged, a group of white men and boys gathered weapons and started attacking African American in the streets.
  • For our jobs & women!
  • We didn't do anything!
  • Even city officials and the Georgia militia could barely stop the fighting. Whites attacked people, barber shops, etc. It came to a point where African Americans began to arm themselves!
  • The Riot went on for 48 hours until it was stopped. 25 African Americans were killed.
