  • How does the setting create the mood of the story?
  • How does the setting affect the characters?
  • How does the character evolve within the plot?
  • Alright kids, we have to o live at grandmas for a little bit.
  • NOOOOO!!!!We don't want to, its to small!
  • The mood of this story is sadness and excitement because at first the narrator is sad because her dad left their family, and their apartment just burnt down. But later the mood changes into excitement because she found an egg.
  • In the exposition what is the conflict.
  • The setting of this story affects the charecters because they one from living in their apartment with every member of their family, and then it burnt down and they lost all of their belongings and their dad left them. But then they moved to go live with their grandma, and have to share a room. So this was a big change for their family. They basically had to re-start their lives.
  • How does the resolution dress the conflict?
  • The characters are sad now, because they basically lost everything in the fire, and have to go live with their grandma, and her mom and the grandma usually don't get a long very well. They are also sad because their dad left them. Nad are going to have to adapt to their new living ways.
  • Which changes in events were most influential?
  • At the beginning of the story the conflict is that their apartment burnt down, and their father left them. They lost all of their belongings, and have to go live with their grandma for a while.
  • The resolution addresses the conflict because their dad came back. Not only that but he got a job in Phoenix and he was renting a house. So he solved both parts of the conflict.
  • The most influential part of this story was when the phoenix egg hatched, because her saying ,"It was as if we could start fresh and all the rest of it had been burned away."This saying applied to two other parts of the story as well. Such as when her dad came home and when the phoenix egg hatched. This was the most influential because that saying was exactly what she wanted from her dad as well.
  • "I got a job, in Phoenix. And a house rented, with a real backyard. I didn't know about the fire, I didn't know where you all had gone . My letters came back, and the phone didn't connect...
  • Dad!?What are you doing here??
