  • We will never surrender!
  • Akkadians conquer Uruk and defeat the king.
  • YEA!
  • Hammurabi
  • I like you and my people! And, I agree that we need more land and to set new laws. I will take over all of Mesopotamia and name it Babylon.
  • Hammurabi, I like this place, but we need to conquer more land and make more laws for our kingdom.
  • Yes! I heard the laws will help everyone. We will all have to follow the same rules so we will not be punished by King Hammurabi.

  • Sargon was a great leader when he helped the Akkadians win against the King of Uruk. He made people defenseless by putting his soldiers close together. The shields were in the front and the spears were in the back. He took almost half of Mesopotamia before he stopped. He will be remembered as the first ruler of the Akkadian Empire.

  • Hammurabi was a great ruler and the people thrived when he ruled. Hammurabi was smart and used the river to trade grain, cloth, gold, silver, and animals. This helped the economy and he and his people loved living there. He also created laws that took direct impact on the people. His reign ended in 1750 B.C.E. He was a true warrior and the one that people trusted back then.

  • Hammurabi's code was made out of stone.The laws on the tablets were made for trade, work, marriage, and divorce. If these laws were not made, people would commit crimes over and over because no one could stop them. The laws also made sure people paid for things they traded. Some people thought the laws were harsh because they did not treat everyone equally.

  • The person who ruled the Babylonian Empire was called Hammurabi. Hammurabi loved his people and worked to unite them. He renamed the land Babylon and ruled it fairly. The empire believed that the sun god named, Marduk, called out to him and told him to make the code of laws for his people.The people also worshiped the sun god too.

  • The Assyrians were a strong fearless group of soldiers. They were very good with the horses and using weapons to fight and take over. The Assyrians used special tools that were made for battle like the battering ram and movable towers to climb over and force the walls down.They also camped outside of the walls and keep on attacking until the people gave up hope.

  • Nebuccadnezzar was a good military king of the New Babylonia. He forced the Egyptians out of their territory which was called Syria, and they had to find a new place to live. The new empire was also good at math and astronomy. Nebucchadnezzar made a bunch of improvements to the palace. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon were put on display and it became famous.
