  • The Tibet-Qinghai Plateau is freezing. It's winter averages at 18 degreees. It is 29,000 feet above the ground. Two of China's biggest rivers start in this plain.

  • The Taklimakan Desert covers about 105,000 square miles. There is a legend that 300 cities are buried 600 feet under the ground from very long ago. Desert winds cause the dunes to change shape.
