  • Mental wellness is the ability to be comfortable with yourself and your surroundings, and emotional wellness is how well you react to events in your life. Regardless of your emotional health, everyone feels stress in their lives. Stress has three stages.
  • 1. ALARM: fight or flight2. RESISTANCE: you may feel tired.3. EXHAUSTION: stress lasts weeks or more

  • Defense mechanisms are unconscious psychological responses that protect people from things they do not want to deal with or think about
  • Everyone deals with stress differently. Some people use defense mechanisms, and others stress eat.

  • Stress eating can be either under eating or over eating, and can cause fatigue, vitamin deficiencies, weight loss, weight gain, irritability, and diabetes. To avoid stress eating, eat full, balanced meals, take your time while eating, and leave yourself encouraging notes.
  • To manage stress, try setting goals for yourself, using positive self-talk, taking responsibility for your actions, and focusing on your strengths.
