Journal Entry #1: Mansa Musa has decided to embark on a pilgrimage, the sacred hajj that fulfills the Muslim's spirit. He has gathered together slaves, servents, camels, horses, and scholars such as I. I will report next to Mansa Musa in order to report and record what happends on the journey.
Journal Entry #2: The Hajj will take about a year to complete. We will be traveling approximately 2,750 miles on foot. The Hajj is a journey from Mali, our home kingdom, to Mecca.
Journal Entry #3: We have barely started our Journey and yet the King has already spent loads of gold on the poor. We met a small family who had nothing and Mansa Musa felt he needed to help. I have been assigned the job of recording every time he spends money so that he can keep track.
Journal Entry #4: The Hajj is completed to please god. It says to do the Hajj in the book special for Islamics. Today we pleased Mansa Musa, we gained tons of salt.
Journal Entry #5: Mansa Musa is planning to stop in Cairo for his own shopping pleasures. He is hoping to enrich the people there with riches of gold and salt. I just hope we can get there without any difficulties, this sahra just doesn't seem to have an end to it.
Journal Entry #6: Mansa Musa is a very noble king, always giving to others. What an inspiration he is for all people in Africa. That's why he appears on the map of Africa. He is very important.
