Storyboard Text

  • O Captain! My Captain!
  • Tone
  • Word Choice
  • This is a poem about how President Lincoln was assassinated.
  • Imagery
  • This poem has a sad tone because it talks about a mans captain who died.
  • Style
  • Captain, ship, cold, dead, bleeding, bells, flag, pale, pulse, voyage, mournful.
  • Theme
  • O Captain! My Captain! talks about a captain and that could mean a leader like a president or an important person.
  • In these lines "The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won, The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting." the author talks about how he knows that people will be happy and cheering.
  • I think the theme is to cherish the people that you love or the people that you look up to your leaders. You never know what will happen to them or you.
