Since they were young, the narrator and Annabel Lee were in love. However at one point, something occurred in their relationship that brought them apart. Annabel was to stressed, and decided to drown in the ocean. The narrator longs for one more moment with Annabel Lee.
Throughout the poem, there was a sad, remembrance tone. Many words were used such as "chilling and killing my Annabel Lee." The author longs to have his Annabel Lee once more.
