Cabinet battle #1

Storyboard Text

  • Hamilton: My plan is to have the federal government assume all state debts incurred during the Revolutionary War and establish a successful national bank.
  • Jefferson: I disagree, I think a states debt should be its own responsibility to pay off and no state should be responsible for anthers failure.
  • Hamilton: Well, if we assume the debts the union gets a new line of credit, don't you get it?
  • Jefferson: Hamilton, you don't have the votes.
  • Hamilton: Your debts are already paid because you don't pay for labor
  • Jefferson: It's still unfair because we already paid for our debts.
  • Jefferson: Your plan doesn't benefit anyone else other than you, you plan is to tax and make states pay fro their debts
  • Hamilton: That's not true!
  • Jefferson: You have to find a Compromise
  • Hamilton: They hate mine! And what if I don't get Congressional approval?!
  • Hamilton: Well, it looks like I won the decision for the national government to take over and pay the state debts
  • Compromise of 1790
  • Jefferson: Good luck with your plan, me and Madison get to obtain the national capital
