- Weedah the mockingbird makes the noises of many people and animals to trick tribesmen into thinking there is a nearby village.
- I must find out what has happened to my friends.
- I will voyage far and wide until I find an answer.
- A nearby tribesmen hears these noises and becomes curious.
- I am the only one here. Perhaps your ears deceived you.
- He won't trick me!
- He questions where all the noises came from and how Weedah could be the only one, when the mockingbird edges him close to the fire and throws him in!
- As you have served my cousin and friends, so I now serve you.
- Mullyan the eagle hawk is determined to find out what has happened to his cousin and friends.
- He wanders into Weedah's village and the mockingbird attempts to play the same trick on Mullyan.
- But Mullyan is cunning, and throws Weedah into the fire before he gets edged into the fire.
