When Elizabeth Cady was 11 years old womens didn't have the right to vote. She asked her father why womens couldn't vote and all he said was "Because the law says so."
That year Elizabeths brother died Eleazar, Eleazar was only 20 years old when he died. Elizabeths dad was devastated because Eleazar was his only son.
At age 15 Elizabeth finished school her grades were as high as any boy in her class, but Elizabeth wanted to learn more about the world, later on Elizabeths dad allowed her to continue school.
After Elizabeth graduated she often visted her cousin Gerrit Smith. They were all disscusing the law that a man couldn't own another man and well they thought it was unfair. Elizabeth also thought it was unfair but she also thought that it was unfair for Womens not being able to have legal rights.
In the year 1839 Elizabeth met this lawer named Henery Stanton, but her father wouldn'r allow her to het married with him because he wouldn't win enough money to raise a family. Henery and Elizabeth later on got married in May 1840.
Before the conveention Henery and Elizabeth met with other people. One of those people were Lucretia Mott, they were all talking about how they must covnvice the world that it's was unfair for a person to own another person. But besides that Elizabeth and Lucretia were also thinking about how it's also unfair that women don't have legal rights.
