Evidence 2:Charlie thought it was Tommy because he read a book and that is what happened in the book.
Evidence 3:Charlie shot Pete van Horn because he was walking and hey didn't see his face.
One of the main themes of "The Monsters are due on Maple street"By Rod Serling is fear and suspension can make people do bad things . The first thing that would support this is when Steve and the rest of the crowd think that it is Les because his car started and no other thing started. This supports the theme because Tommy just told him the story and Les and his family fit that description and so do 25% of the country. The second piece of evidence is Charlie thinks that it is Tommy because of what he read in a book. This supports the theme because he read a book he was just telling them because it was similar of what was happening and he is just a child and probably in the 8th grade. The third piece of evidence is when Charlie shot Pete van Horn and thought it was a monster. This supports the main theme because Charlie was so scared that he just shot him if he was not scared he would have asked the thing if it was someone he knew but of what happened Pete will never live to tell if the power was still on floral street. Those are the three pieces of evidence that support the theme.
