I'm in class nine and I think Yang Fan is in class two.
Yin Lan-lan is in my class.
None of my former classmates are in my class!
No one knows my class status!
What mistakes did Dad make?
Could he be a rightist?
It is the first day of junior high school at Xin-Zha Junior High School and the new chairman is giving his speech in the auditorium. An Yi and Ji-Li are talking to Den Yi-yi and Chen Yi-yi about what classes they are in and what other people are in. The girls find out that Yang Fan and Yin Lan-lan aren't in their classes but they are nervous about Du Hai.
I forgot my Precious Red Book!
Ji-Li and Bai Shan, please stay after class. Teacher Zhang would like to speak to you.
In this Scene, Ji-Li is joyful because she doesn't know anyone in her class. This means that no one knows her class status and she can have a fresh start.
Did I do something wrong? Does it have to do with my class status?
Ji-Li's Dad was sent to a a political study class but the purpose of the class was to make the people confess their mistakes or crimes. Dad comes home late at night and talks to Mom in the bathroom (while smoking) so then the kids don't hear. Ji-Li ponders why her dad was sent to the class and could he be a rightist after all?
Tell Teacher Zhang I couldn't wait to see him.
In this Scene, the students are doing their Morning Benediction. The students have to take out their Precious Red Books but Ji-Li forgot to put it in her pocket and the Chairman Jin was right behind her. Fortunately, her classmate, Sun Lin-lin, gave her another copy.
Here you go.
In this Scene, Teacher Li tells Ji-Li and Bai Shan that Teacher Zhang wants to speak with them. Ji-Li and the rest of the class feel uneasy and Ji-Li is worried that maybe it has to do with her class status. The real reason was because Teacher Zhang wants them to join the propaganda group because they have good handwriting.
In this Scene, Ji-Li tells her classmate Chang Hong to tell Teacher Zhang she couldn't wait to see him and that she can't do the blackboard newspaper. She says because she has no time but she is really afraid that people would gossip about her if she did it.
I don't have time to do the blackboard newspaper.
