Storyboard Text

  • The highway man riding to see his love Bess.
  •  The wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees. The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas. The road was a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor.
  • The Ostler, Tim also loves the landlords daughter and heard the Highway mans plan.    
  • But the Ostler loved the landlords daughter the landlords  red lipped  daughter. Dumb as a dog he listened, and he heard the robber say.
  • The highway man has left his love Bess to go rob some gold, but shall return by moonlight.
  • Ryme -" Watch for me by moonlight,  I'll come to thee by moonlight, though hell should bar the way."
  • The rhyme uses metaphors to describe  the setting,it gives me a image.
  • King George's men came to guard Bess and wait for the Highway mans return.    
  •  A red coat troop came marching- marching- marching.
  • A simile used to describe the Ostler, dumb as a dog.
  • Bess shattered her breast in the moonlight and killed herself to warn her love the highway man.
  • Tlot-tlot, in the frosty silence! Tlot-tlot, in the echoing night! Nearer he came and nearer.
  • The Ryme tells when the Highway man shall return for Bess.     
  • The highway man was shot by the redcoats down like a dog on the highway.
  • Blood red were his spurs in the golden noon; wine red was his velvet coat; When they shot him down in the highway. Down like a dog in the highway.
  • Repetition used to emphasize the red coat men marching.
  • The onomatopoeia Tlot- Tlot  emphasizes the sound of the horse and highway man are getting close to the old inn.
  •  The rhyme uses a metaphor to describe  how the highway man went down. Like a dog on the highway.
