  •    Government did not have the right to tax the colonist. This caused money issues throughout the government system especially since they were in dept from the Revolutionary war. They did not have representation so they could not tax.

  • I think we should separate powers.
  • Having no president was not good because there was no final say. Many disputes occurred throughout the states. This weakened the states because they could not come to an agreement.
  • Ideas and Compromises that helped form the constitution
  • The Romans had an impact on writing the Constitution. The idea of having a Republic allowed the people to vote for their 1 ruler. This form of government was used by the Romans for years until  Rome was invaded and Julius Ceaser was killed which is why it was admired by the Americans.
  • Baron de La Brède et de Montesquieu was a French judge who had influence in the constitution. He believed in Separation pf powers. The idea was that there were three parts of government judicial, legislative, and executive so that all the power was not granted to one person.
  • The 3/5 Compromise was set to keep the amount of representatives from each state fair. This only counted 3/5 of the slaves so the larger states did not have too many representatives. This was important because the population of your state , the more representations you had. The Compromise made sure that each states voice was heard fairly.
